Houseparent Job

I am working with a small sixth form international boarding college that offers a highly personalised education preparing students from all over the world aged 14-19 years for entry into leading universities globally.

They are seeking to appoint a Houseparent (Residential) to be part of their boarding and pastoral team from September 2024, leading by example and providing outstanding pastoral care.

They are looking for someone with lots of ideas, energy, ambition, and enthusiasm, alongside a calm, compassionate and nurturing nature. They would also like a colleague who will be kind to the community, who loves the company of people and is great fun to be around.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to nurturing and supporting young people and will be an excellent communicator. They will also have the ability to quickly win the respect of staff and students and to liaise effectively, when appropriate and necessary with parents, agents and guardians.

The role would suit those who already have experience working in a Boarding role and are looking to progress their career in this area.

The Role:

  • To supervise the boarders’ daily routine and to deal with any general matters of behaviour to ensure a happy, purposeful atmosphere in the House
  • To undertake regular supervisory duties
  • To organise and actively lead a programme of activities, in the evenings and at weekends, in-line with the roster of duties, to give boarders a range of enjoyable and instructive experiences.
  • To undertake residential duties as per contract.
  • To liaise with form tutors and teaching staff on matters concerning the welfare, academic and social development of boarding students.
  • Attend duties to care and support the boarders
  • To monitor boarder’s welfare, record registers and maintain a positive atmosphere.
  • To support the Head of Boarding in dealing with areas of concern, following the procedure and policies put in place by the school
  • To support the Head of Boarding in producing reports regarding the welfare, progress, social and academic achievement of the boarders to parents, teachers and other agencies as required
  • To maintain the boarder’s documentation as directed by the Head of Boarding to ensure all paperwork/records are being consistently updated
