Evening Matron Job (residential)
I am working with a school that was founded in 1919, it is a school that has moved from Sidcup, been evacuated to Devon during the second world war, grown and developed and added to its facilities, but has always enjoyed a long history of high standards.
They are looking for an evening matron to join their team.
The Role:
• Ensure the boarding area of the School is made to feel like a home from home, and is a warm, welcoming, and safe environment.
• Ensure high standards in the boarding house. Ensure cleanliness, tidiness and the organisation of equipment and possessions.
• Supervise boarders’ morning, evening, and bedtime routines.
• Run boarders evening activities after supper, and on the landings.
• Attend and assist with the supervision of mealtimes.
• To be on call during the night when required (on a rota basis).
• Undertake laundry, hygiene, and housekeeping duties, directed by the Head of Boarding and Senior Matron.
• Meet regularly with the Head of Boarding and boarding team.
• Regularly update the Head of Boarding and Senior Matron if there are any pastoral concerns.
• Liaise with parents and staff as required.
• Support the return to school and end of term processes, including unpacking/packing, storage of possessions etc.
• Organise birthday tables.
• Take pupils to medical and dental appointments when required.
• Contribute to and support the planning and running of the boarders’ weekend activities.
• Work as part a team in response to extraordinary circumstances e.g., illness through the School.
You:
• Have experience of working with prep-school age children.
• Previous experience of working in a boarding school/school environment would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of the emotional and wellbeing needs of children.
• Knowledge/awareness of safeguarding would be beneficial.
• Children’s health care experience would be highly desirable.
• Experienced and comfortable using ICT effectively in the workplace.
• Have excellent people skills, including confident and effective communication skills.
• Have a strong commitment to the personal, social, and academic development of children.
• Have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a close-knit team.
• Are warm, caring and nurturing.
• Are approachable, empathetic, and patient.
• Are calm, efficient and the ability to deal with the unexpected/emergencies.

Hours of Work:
Roughly 40 hours per week during term time which can be broken down as per the below:
Monday to Friday: 7.00am to 9.00am & 5.00pm to 10.00pm (4.00pm start on Wednesdays)
Friday: all Fridays except exeat weekends and before half-terms and the end of terms: 5.00pm to 10.00pm
Sunday: all non-exeat Sundays (not including when the boarders return at the beginning of each term and half-term): 5.00pm to
10.00pm
Accommodation: Rent free, year round accommodation is provided within the grounds (to the value of £10,000)
Salary: £17,782 GPA
