Live in Couple Job in Berkshire
Live in, animal-loving Couple required for a 6 bedroom home on the border of Berkshire & Oxfordshire. There are 7 acres of grounds, including formal beds, paddock, orchard, animals and pets including a dog. They have grown up children who are attending university.
The family are looking for a housekeeper to work 5 days a week. The house includes fine furnishings and antiques. You will be responsible for cleaning, laundry and ironing to a high standard, as well as general housekeeping duties with occasional light cooking. You should be willing to help out with light gardening. The ideal housekeeper must be meticulous, tidy, organised and have eye for detail.
For the gardening/handyman role, duties include grounds maintenance, pruning, mowing, strimming hedge trimming etc vegetable garden and flower cultivation working alongside a gardener who comes once a week. DIY and basic repairs of the house and grounds would be a daily part of the job, as would looking after animals, which include sheep, chickens and pigs. Previous animal experience not essential. You will work alongside a formal Gardener who comes twice a week.
The family also have a Hungarian Vizsla dog. Walking and dog-sitting are important parts of the job.
Ideally you would both drive, but it is essential to have at least one driver, and a car is provided for your work use. Driving would include school and airport runs. The house is set in a rural location in beautiful countryside, close to the river.
Duties will include:
Hands on cleaning, laundry and ironing to a high standard
Caring for antiques and fine fabrics
Wardrobe management
Occasional light meals/family cooking
Maintaining 7 acres of gardens under the supervision of a gardener twice a week
Dog walking
General household maintenance inside and outside
Handyman duties
Driving duties
Vehicle maintenance
Security of the property
House and animal sitting when the family are away
Looking after animals (sheep, chickens, pigs)
Accommodation: 1 bedroom apartment attached to the stables. Well behaved pets welcome
Start date: October/November 2024
Working week: Monday to Friday: 40 hours a week. Occasional weekend work required.
Drivers : Ideally both to drive. Essential one does
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 GPA, depending on experience
