Live in Couple Job in Suffolk
We have a lovely position for a single lady in Suffolk who is looking for a Couple (Full time Gardener/Handyman & Part time Housekeeper) to help maintain her beautiful Farmhouse set in a rural location in the Suffolk countryside. The employer has grown up children with grandchildren who live in London. She will be looking to get a dog, or two, next year, having recently lost hers to old age.
The ideal Couple will be team players, flexible and friendly, with a willingness to communicate openly. As one of the barn conversions is used for community activities, it would suit a Couple who is interested in helping the community minded and enjoys meeting new people. A love of dogs is essential and you must be confident handling dogs.
Duties will involve but not be limited to:
Gardening duties – strimming, hedging, general gardening as directed, as well as almost full responsibility for kitchen garden, polytunnel & greenhouse
Handyman duties – basic property maintenance skills preferred
Driving duties & vehicle maintenance
On site security
Pet care – walking the two large dogs twice a day and feeding them
Housekeeping duties
Preparing simple meals for the principal and helping assist with meal preparation when family and friends visit
Running errands and shopping
Setting up the barn that is used to host community activities (singing for health and wellbeing one day, art on another). The role will include setting the space up for these activities (tables, chairs etc) and helping with tea/coffee/biscuits as well as cleaning the space between activities
House and pet sitting
Looking after another property nearby, on occasion
Checking in with the principal when she returns from an overnight stay, for example, helping her in with her bags etc
Start: December ideally
Accommodation: 2-bedroom barn with bathroom, sitting room, large kitchen and enclosed garden. You share a driveway with the main property. Dependents and pets would be considered. Utility bills will be covered by the employer.
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 GPA, depending on experience and flexibility
Working week: 5 days a week, with Wednesdays & Thursdays off. You will get one weekend off a month.
Hours:
Gardener/Handyman: 40 hours a week
Housekeeper: 15/20 hours a week
Driving: Yes, essential both can drive confidently and competently in a range of different vehicles
