Live in Housekeeper / Cook job near Lewes, East Sussex
Excellent, proactive and experienced Housekeeper/ Cook needed for a stunning and busy Manor house in the countryside. It is the family’s main residence but they also host large events during the summer and smaller events during the shoot season. Other staff are employed and the role will involve overseeing other full and part time live out housekeepers to keep the house to high standards.
The family are informal and have a busy schedule with a 4 and 9 year old. We are looking for a discreet person with high standards; huge amounts of common sense who would enjoy a varied role in a beautiful location. The role would suit someone confident to lead from the front who is happy to get involved with whatever needs doing and who is happy to be flexible in their working hours when the house is very busy.
Duties to include
Hands on Housekeeping, Cleaning , Washing and Ironing ( the bulk of this is done by the other housekeepers but you must be prepared to do this when the house is busy.)
Hands on managing general upkeep of house and organisation of systems.
Bed making
Running errands as needed
Managing house-guests
Occasional assistance with the children if needed ( Nanny employed and Mum is very hands on)
Cooking for the family, they enjoy healthy fresh seasonal cuisine cooked from scratch, some batch cooking. Ability to cook game would be an advantage.
Cooking for canape parties in the summer for between 30-100 guests on occasion would be a bonus
House sitting and dog sitting ( 3 well behaved dogs) when owners are away.
Partners and pets will be considered.
Driving essential, Must have own car but car provided for work purposes.
Hours 9-5 Monday – Friday approx. 40 hours per week with flexibility
Accommodation 2 bed self contained cottage in the grounds
Salary £40,000 to £45,000 Gross Per Annum
