Live-in Housekeeper Opportunity in the Capital of Portugal
We are seeking an experienced and reliable housemaid to work in our private household. The housemaid will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the home, including the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the house, including but not limited to:
Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors
Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchen, and other living spaces
Washing, ironing, and folding laundry
Changing and laundering bed linens and towels
2. Perform deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis, such as:
Carpet cleaning and shampooing
Upholstery and drapery cleaning
Window washing
Silver and brass polishing
3. Organise and maintain household storage spaces, including closets, cupboards, and pantries
4. Assist with meal preparation, cooking, and kitchen clean-up as needed in coordination with the chef
5. Perform light gardening duties and maintain outdoor living areas
6. Ensure the proper disposal of waste and recycling materials
7. Manage inventory and purchasing of household supplies and cleaning products
8. Report any maintenance issues or necessary repairs to the homeowner
9. Maintain a high level of discretion and respect for the family's privacy
Qualifications and Skills:
1. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a housekeeper in a private residence, luxury hotel, or similar
setting
2. Excellent knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products
3. Ability to work independently and take initiative in managing tasks and schedules
4. Strong organisational and time management skills
5. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly home
6. Ability to communicate effectively in English and/or Portuguese
7. Willingness to adapt to the family's routines and preferences
8. A valid driver's license (preferred)
9. Legally eligible to work in Portugal
10. Must pass a background check and provide verifiable references
Benefits:
1. Competitive salary, commensurate with experience circa €40,000 to €45,000 per annum, a high salary for Portugal (6 days per week)
2. Private accommodation provided within the residence, including all utilities, only kitchen is shared
