Live in or Live out Estate Manager / Gardener Job in Wiltshire
A fantastic opportunity to work for a returning client of Greycoat, who is looking for a Estate Manager / Gardener to join their 100 acre estate in Wiltshire. The family have a dog.
Predominantly the role entails supervising the overall maintenance of the house and grounds but also assisting in the care of formal gardens alongside a part-time Senior Gardener.
As a significant element of this role involves maintenance of gardens, alongside a part time Senior Gardener, therefore, a sound knowledge of plants and plant care and grounds maintenance would be an advantage, but not essential.
Duties:
- Working with the owner to maintain the house, substantial formal gardens and grounds to a high standard
- Assisting with the management of routine works to the house, gardens and wider estate
- Assisting in the maintenance of wider estate properties and houses including the engagement of contractors, supervision of works and managing maintenance schedules
- Shared Care of formal gardens and assisting the part-time gardener with maintenance and plant care
- Grounds maintenance across the Estate working with an environmentally sympathetic approach
- Liaising with household staff around family and house needs
- To act as key holder for the house
- Security of the house and grounds as well as some pet care when the family are away
- Care of a meadow set aside as a nature reserve
- Assisting a part-time river keeper with maintenance of a stretch of river, both bankside and in-stream
- Basic maintenance and upkeep of machinery (where qualified)
- Assist in the general running of the property
The Candidate should:
- Have demonstrable experience as an estate manager or senior gardener looking for a more varied role
- Be a strong communicator able to represent the owner and keep them up to date with matters requiring attention
- Hold a suitable qualification or demonstrable experience in in an appropriate horticultural or property or grounds maintenance discipline, although not essential
- Be experienced in the management of contractors and staff in both building and grounds maintenance
- Have good attention to detail and experience in working to very high standards in a tidy manner
- Have an interest in nature and biodiversity
- Be experienced in the use (and where possible, maintenance) of garden machinery and equipment and maintenance
- Work well as part of a team and be comfortable with the supervision of colleagues and contractors
- Level 3 Tree Felling or chainsaw license would be an advantage
Start: ASAP
Working week: Monday to Friday, 40-45 hours a week. Flexibility will be required to work outside of normal hours from time to time.
Accommodation: There is the possibility of providing accommodation in either a one bedroom modernized cottage with flexible sitting room area, or a 3 bedroom cottage. Pets will be considered. Utilities bills will be paid by the employer.

Salary:
- Live in: £30,000 - £40,000 gpa, dependent on experience
- Live out: £35,000 - £45,000 gpa, dependent on experience
