Hiring a Nanny in Scotland
Greycoat Lumleys Childcare & Education is registered with The Care Inspectorate to place Nannies and other Childcarers in Scotland.
In England, it is well known for Nannies to take the initiative and to become Ofsted Registered. But in Scotland, it is the Nanny recuitment agency that is regulated by The Care Inspectorate and it is incumbent on the Nanny to look for work through an approved agency.
Greycoat Lumleys is fully approved by The Care Inspectorate to place childcare staff in Scotland. As well as the satisfactory completion of the paperwork, agencies are required to meet all The Care Inspectorate’s regulations in terms of good practice, including reference checks and checks via the PVG Scheme (the Scottish equivalent of DBS) as well as being ready to be inspected at any time (much like an Ofsted assessment).
There are obvious similarities with the way the process works across the rest of the UK, though; the Care Inspectorate expects the same rigorous vetting processes that we are known for throughout the UK and internationally. Quite different to the UK however, is the link between parents’ childcare vouchers and Nannies having to be registered through an approved agency which is worth double-checking by parents.
