Caretaker/ Maintenance/ Driver Job

Live In Caretaker / Maintenance/ Driver Job – Hampshire

A client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking for a self-sufficient and switched on caretaker for their large property in Hampshire, including the garden and 85 acres of woodland. There is a couple who live at the home and their children visit on occasion. They have a dog, cats, alpacas, chickens and geese.

This position involves overseeing the maintenance and general upkeep of the property, as well as driving duties such as airport runs or other errands related to events the clients may be attending. Driving duties are not required at all times, but the ideal candidate must be flexible with their schedule, as there may be occasions when a late-night local pickup is necessary if the clients are out.

While there are other staff members working on the property, this is the only live-in position. The family treats the property as their permanent residence and typically travels for up to three weeks at a time. During their absence, the caretaker will need to stay at the property for security and to ensure the general care of the animals.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of maintenance skills, caretaking experience, and a proactive approach to ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the property. The role also includes some pet care, so experience with dogs and other pets would be needed.

Duties will include:

  • Caretaking Duties - Provide support and assistance to the property owners as needed, which include opening and closing the house, property maintenance, providing access to contractors and cleaners and other general maintenance duties.

  • Security and Safety - Ensure the security of the property by monitoring for any potential security risks or hazards and implementing appropriate safety measures.

  • Driving and upkeep of the cars. A driver with a clean driver’s license is required for this role.

  • Groundskeeping - Maintaining the exterior of the property, including lawn care and seasonal maintenance tasks.

  • Pet and animal care

  • Emergency Response - Be available to respond promptly to any emergencies or urgent maintenance issues that may arise.

  • Other ad hoc duties that may be required

Please note that we will only consider candidates with recent and verifiable experience in a similar role and longevity in employment. They will have experience working in private households and checkable references as well as a clean Driver's Licence.
