Greycoat Lumleys has the pleasure of working with one of the world's leading catering companies to supply their staff for their F1 contract. This is a very exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join the team.
The KP plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen team by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and efficiency in the kitchen during high-profile F1 events. The kitchen porter ensures that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces are kept clean and ready for use, contributing to the smooth running of the kitchen during race weekends.
Key accountabilities
Wash and sanitise all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, and dishes, ensuring they are cleaned quickly and efficiently during service.
Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, floors, and workstations to maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness.
Ensure all waste is disposed of properly and manage recycling where applicable.
Assist in unloading and organising kitchen deliveries, ensuring all food items and supplies are stored correctly.
Help chefs and kitchen staff by providing clean tools and equipment as needed during service.
Ensure that workspaces are tidy and free from hazards, supporting a smooth and safe workflow.
Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies, reporting any shortages to the kitchen supervisor or head chef.
Properly store and organise food supplies and ingredients in accordance with food safety standards.
Assist in reducing food waste by following proper waste management protocols.
Assist with simple food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling basic dishes under the direction of the chefs.
Ensure that any food preparation tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Follow all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene practices and equipment safety procedures.
Report any maintenance or safety issues in the kitchen to the Head Chef.
Participate in regular cleaning and sanitation checks to ensure the kitchen meets Formula 1’s high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Assist in setting up kitchen equipment and workstations before service begins during race weekends.
Help with the breakdown, cleaning, and storage of equipment after each event or service period.
Ensure that all areas of the kitchen are cleaned and organized after the event, ready for the next service.
Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
Communicate effectively with chefs, front-of-house staff, and supervisors to ensure that all cleaning and kitchen support tasks are completed on time.
Be adaptable and ready to assist with any kitchen needs that arise during busy periods.
Person specification
Essential
Experience in a kitchen porter or similar role in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
Good physical stamina, as the role requires long hours of standing, lifting, and moving heavy objects.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Attention to detail, with the ability to maintain high levels of cleanliness and organisation.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, especially during race events.
A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to adapt to the demands of a fast-paced environment.
Salary - £32,000 GPA – please note this is for a February to December contract
