Live In Couple Job in Hampshire 

A lovely family with 2 school aged children aged 16 and 14 years (at boarding school) are looking for an experienced Couple to manage their beautiful property in Hampshire. They usually spend a couple of nights in London might week. They also have a Dog.

They are an informal and relaxed family who have friends and family that visit at weekends.  

The property is a modern 6 bedroom house situated in 26 acres of land with approx 4 acres of garden which is established and needs maintaining so as a Gardener you should have some gardening knowledge and be able to maintain the vegetable garden which the family really enjoy. They employ 2 Gardeners once a month to assist.

Housekeeper role will be to ensure the house is ready for the families arrival on a Friday, you will be responsible for all the washing, ironing and cleaning of the house. Ideally you will be happy to cook some simple home style meals for the family and guests when required.  

As a Couple you will be responsible for the security of the estate, be the first port of call for emergencies, deal with contractors and communicate with the family during the week while in London.

 Duties for the Gardener/Handyman to include:

  • Upkeep of the grounds, Hedge cutting, strimming, lawn care Flowerbeds, planting, weeding,
  • Kitchen garden, soil prep, seed planting, using a green house.
  • Wisteria and honey suckle pruning.
  • Care of fruit trees
  • Basic knowledge of land management. Defra/Rural payments Agency
  • Looking after garden/farm machinery, checking oils, tires pressure etc.
  • Swimming pool maintenance.
  • Cleaning gutters, Pressure-washing all patios.
  • Paddock care, tractor work etc.
  • Fencing.
  • Basic knowledge of DIY.
  • Regular checks of house utility meters,
  • Firewood prep. cutting storing, making fires, inc kindling.
  • Basic sheep/pony knowledge, lambing experience preferred (nb: 10 lambs due in April).
  • Good knowledge of house AV systems, wifi, alarms etc.
  • Able to keep accounts if required.
  • Liaising with and overseeing outside contractors
  • Managing lake (and the fish in the lake)

Duties for the Housekeeper to include:

  • Hands on cleaning washing and ironing. Pool house, Playroom included.
  • Making beds/ironing sheets
  • A high standard of cleaning, dusting and vacuuming
  • Preparing and making family style meals (in readiness for weekends – but this is more ad hoc; by no means every weekend)
  • Baking (eg: cake for family arrival, desserts, etc again ad hoc)
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Running errands
  • Grocery shopping
  • Animal friendly (in case the family get a dog in the future).
  • Take delivery of weekly shops and put away.
  • Flower arrangements.

Accommodation: A lovely spacious 2-bedroom cottage separate from the main house. Pets will be considered.

Start Date: May

Working Week: Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm with a break. Occasional weekend work required

Drivers – Ideally both to drive but essential Gardener is a driver
